Braves

Braves

The Giants were 41-31 exactly one year ago, when they traded Kyle Harrison and James Tibbs for Rafi Devers and his enormous financial package.  They went 40-50 from that point, to finish at 0.500, as Bryce Eldridge got to play just a bit.  They are 29-43 this year, as they head to Atlanta to play the Braves.  Simple math, that means in the 162 games since trading for Devers, they are 69-93.  And it looks like Bryce Eldridge is now mature enough to play at first base nearly every day, so how will the Giants get out of this self-inflicted trap?

Here are the games in Atlanta, all on NBCSBA and KNBR,
✽ Tuesday, 4:15, Adrian Houser (2-6, 5.54) vs. RHP Grant Holmes (4-2, 4.05)
✽ Wednesday, 4:15, Robbie Ray (4-6, 4.42) vs. RHP JR Ritchie (1-1, 3.82)
✽ Thursday, 4:15, Landen Roupp (5-7, 4.24) vs. LHP Martin Perez (5-3, 2.90)
Both teams were idle on Monday.

I distinctly remember writing a main post about Dubon giving a bat to a young kid in Milwaukee, who was of Honduran background, and having health problems.  Memory says it was the bat Dubi got his first MLB hit with.  I distinctly remember praising Dominic Smith’s stance last year on the ICE raids in Los Angeles, which is his birthplace.  And I will remember Mike Yastrzemski as long as I live:  respect for his grandfather, love for his wife, raising two daughters.  We were blessed to have once had these men on our team.

Thinking about these three humans makes one feel sad about some of the current pitchers.
