C Logan Porter is on their 40-man at AAA. Meckler is getting quite a bit of playing time, he’s been in 47 games, and is 41 for 132 (0.311), mostly singles.
The Giants do not have Mike Trout, but do have two guys who have out-homered Trout in 2026: Both Rafi Devers and Casey Schmitt have 20, and 53 and 51 RBI, respectively. There was more or less nothing in the Royals series to merit Picture of the Post honors, but Schmitt did hit a solo blast in the T9 of the final game to bring the Giants to within a run. Alas, the Royals quickly completed a sweep, giving them a better record than the SFG. But let’s give Casey Schmitt the photographic honors, and hope for better play against the Angels.
The trading deadline looms, namely August 3rd. The Giants will play the Angels and Brewers at home, then four in San Diego, before heading to Dallas/Fort Worth to face the Rangers. The first pitch of that Rangers series will be thrown 2 hours after the trading deadline, which is 3 PM WMF time that Monday. Who will go? In the following list, note that the trade partner would only have to pick up about 50/162 of the salary for 2026, for there will only be 50 games remaining on August 3rd. The year is the end of the player’s current contract.
