A miserable season. The 65-97 in 2026 nearly matched the 64-98 record in 2017, when the team had run out of World Series talent. One more win, although this one was much more highly paid. The awful season was not due to the injuries mounting up after the All Star Game. It was each and every month: 13-18 in March/April, 10-18 in May, 12-14 in June, 12-13 in July, 10-18 in August, 8-16 in September. 4 pitchers lost for next season to Tommy John. Only one series sweep recorded. No walks (except those issued by our own bullpen), no steals, not much defense, never a hit with the bases loaded. Capped off with a huge self-inflicted public relations fiasco. The Picture today says it all.
kodachrome found a good representation of the wildcard schedule. Maybe if we watch some good baseball by some of these other teams, we can find the energy to think about what might have been good in the Giants 2026 season.
