rosters

The main purpose of this post is the graphic above, thank kodachrome for finding it.  Note that the LDS are best of 5, so that’s just their starts. The day after the end of the regular season, teams out of the play offs have a 40-man roster, combining active players from game 162, minor leaguers, and the 7- and 10- and 15-day lists.  Only the 60-day list remains separate, until 5 days after the World Series when the big roster massacre begins.  Brubaker is still on the list, although he will be off to free agency on Massacre Day.  Here are the Giants, 19 players and 21 pitchers:

starters (8):  Seth Lonsway, Yunior Marte (L), Miguel Mendez, Anthony Molina, Cesar Perdomo (L), Landen Roupp, Logan Webb, Matt Wilkinson (Lrelievers (13):  Tristan Beck, JT Brubaker, Duncan Davitt, Camilo Doval, Jason Foley, Trent Harris, Sam Hentges (L), Joel Kuhnel, Braxton Roxby, Reiver Sanmartin, Carson Seymour, Dylan Smith, Ryan Walker

MLBTR has posted its list of pitchers and players who are eligible for salary arbitration, mostly that means guys who have 3 to 6 years of service time.  There’s a date, around the winter meetings, when the Giants either offer arbitration or send them off to free agency.  They can choose to do the latter earlier, for example on Massacre Day, to avoid using precious 40-man slots, and likely will.  The data here includes service time, which needs an explanation.  Casey Schmitt has been in the big leagues for parts of the last 4 seasons, but was sent down a few times in 2023 and 2024.  He has been on the active or injured list (both count as service time) for 3 full seasons plus 35 games.  Is Jose Butto’s number is a typing mistake, or somebody forgot to convert it to 3.006?  The dollar figure is MLBTR’s guess as to the what the pay will be, and they are usually pretty accurate.  From MLBTR,
   Jose Butto (2.168) $0.8M
   Camilo Doval (5.071) $6.6M
   Jason Foley (4.150) $2.3M
   Sam Hentges (5.157) $2M
   Randy Rodriguez (2.148) $0.8M
   Ryan Walker (3.050) $1.6M
   Rowan Wick (4.114) $0.8M
and
   Andrew Knizner (5.139) $1M
   Casey Schmitt (3.035) $2.5M
Rowan Wick was signed and paid to rehab this year and already agreed to a 2027 club option at $800K for next year, so I’m not sure why MLBTR think there’s any negotiating to be done on his pay.
