OF Sal Frelik’s 34 RBI are on the IL. Pay attention to Cooper Pratt, the Brewers’ top prospect, was called up in mid-June to take over at SS, pushing Ortiz over to third. Pratt was given an 8-year contract extension this past spring, before ever playing a single game in MLB. A 6th round draft choice in 2023. Hmm.
Rafi Devers wins Picture of the Post, going 2-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored in the 7-6 extra inning game, a two run homer before hitting the game winning ground rule “double” in B10, then 3-4 with 4 RBI and 2 more runs scored in the 9-2 laugher on Saturday (2 run homer, double, single). 1-4 in the final loss, which adds up to 6 for 12 in the series, with 7 RBI.
The most notable thing in Giantsland this weekend was the simultaneous debut at class A of 17 year old Luis Hernandez (international signing, 2026, $5M) and 18 year old Josuar Gonzalez (international signing, 2025, $3M) in class A ball in San Jose on Saturday. At Eugene, we find more of the infield talent on the way up for the Giants. Consider SS Jhonny Level (international signing, 2024, $1M) at Eugene, promoted from San Jose at the start of June, and hitting 0.287 at A+. 3B Hayden Jatczak (undrafted, signed 2025) went up to Eugene just a game ago, after hitting 0.295 with 52 RBI for San Jose.
At Richmond, we find SS Gavin Kilen (1st round pick, 2025, 13th overall), who played in college, aged 22, hitting 0.310 after being promoted just 8 games ago. 2B Diego Vasequez (international signing, 2021, $900K) is hitting 0.303 for the Squirrels, where he is spending a second year. Time to move him to Sacramento?
An infielder of note at Sacramento is 3B Parks Harber (Camilo Doval trade, 2025), promoted to AA in May, and again to AAA ten days ago. He is hitting 0.415 after his first 41 AB, and already has 10 RBI.
