The Giants might go bullpen on Friday night, but could decide to give Houser a spot start. The Tigers are playing on Thursday, and will set their pitching after finishing a series up in Seattle

🐅 C Dillon Dingler, DH Colt Keith
🐅 bench: C/1B Eduardo Valencia, Hao-Yu Lee, OFs Ben Malgeri and James Outman
🐅 rotation: Framber Valdez, Kelder Montero, Troy Melton, Drew Anderson

Their budget was struggling with the big arbitration award to Tarik Skubal for his walk year, and there was no way to bring him back next season, hence Skubal is gone. He lost the first game he started for the blue stink, to the delight of fans of 29 teams. They also traded Casey Mize to the Padres. They got a promising OF Zyhir Hope for the former, and a promising LHP Kash Mayfield for the latter. Prior to Wednesday evening’s game, the Tigers are 55-58, in 4th place, just 1½ games out of the wild card, but appear to have run up the white flag.
The two best performances in the Rangers series were Logan Webb and Jung Hoo Lee. The former with the only win of the three, 6 IP, 8 K, a walk and 5 hits, no runs allowed. The latter had a double and two homers, going 5-14 in the series, and making some good defensive plays, and almost forced extras with a difficult catch in the 2nd game. Both homers were in the first game, and so were instrumental in Webb’s W.
But let’s give the Picture of the Post to Eddys Leonard, for his persistence (just over 3,000 PAs in the minors) for his infectious smile when he finally made it to the big leagues. He signed a minor league contract back in 2017, and played on dodger, Tigers, Braves, and Brewers minor league teams. The latter released him in mid-July, and the Giants gave him yet another minor league deal on 7/24, and he finally got the call up. His parents and family didn’t see his first game, but were there in the series finale when he ripped a double over the left fielder. The picture today is his grin, standing on second, with a MLB batting average. Well done, Eddys, well done.
